The LSC outlined some important next steps of reforms in December 2007. See Documents for Legal Aid Reform: the Next Steps, an overview document that explains the detail.

We have published a consultation and two policy papers:

policy announcement on assuring and improving quality
consultation on best value tendering
cumulative impact assessment for phase one of our reform programme.

Where we’ve got to

We have delivered or set in motion many of the plans outlined in Legal Aid Reform: the Way Ahead. The goal of these reforms is to put legal aid on a sustainable footing for the future and ensure we can continue to increase the number of people helped within a limited budget.
